International Art Residency in Malta

Four Polish Artists at the International Art Residency in Malta.

LuginsLand of Art launches its Art Residency Program, in collaboration with the OmenaArt Foundation, welcoming four exceptional Polish artists: Agata Słowak, Monika Falkus, Emilia Kina, and Zofia Pałucha. The residency not only highlights their work on the international level but also creates new opportunities for artistic dialogue and development in the inspiring Mediterranean setting.

This residency serves as a form of award for the artists, who have distinguished themselves in notable art competitions in Poland. Zofia Pałucha has recently earned accolades in the ‘Moskity 2024’ Art Category, organised by K MAG Magazine as part of its 15th Anniversary celebration. These awards are dedicated to recognising and supporting emerging artists and social activists in Poland.

‘Changing the work environment allows one to take a breath and look at everyday problems from a distance. The Mediterranean landscape and nature have always been close to my heart, which is why I am curious about how the transition from an urban environment to a natural one will influence my creativity.

A space free from the hustle and bustle of the city can provide an opportunity for a deeper connection with nature and enhance creativity, but it can also change the perspective on urban social issues. It may be a matter of finding a way to connect these two worlds – drawing peace from nature while not losing sight of human problems’ – says Zofia Pałucha

Agata Słowak, Emilia Kina, and Monika Falkus have been claimed top three contemporary artists in the esteemed ‘Young Art Compass 2023’ ranking, an initiative spearheaded by art ambassador Kama Zboralska. This ranking, supported by leading private and public contemporary art galleries, highlights the most promising young talents under 35, showcasing their recent achievements and potential. The announcement of these results is accompanied by an exhibition of the finalists’ works, with ‘Young Art Compass’ playing a crucial role in shaping the evolving Polish art market.

The two-week residency programme in September will allow the artists to immerse and experience Malta and Gozo natural and historic landscape. The program encourages integration and networking with the local artistic community. As well as provides the artists with the opportunity to visit Villa Luginsland and learn more about its history and architecture.

‘The mission of the OmenaArt Foundation is to support young artists in their creative development. Last year, we organised our first residency in Malta as part of the maltabiennale.art, and this time we invited four talented Polish artists to participate in an international art residency program in Malta. We are extremely proud to host them and offer them a unique opportunity for growth in the historical setting of LuginsLand of Art, which serves as an art and business centre. We hope that the picturesque landscapes of Malta will inspire them in their artistic pursuits. The OmenaArt Foundation is also engaged in international residency programs in Ghana and Italy, creating new opportunities for young artists worldwide.’ Omenaa Mensah, founder of OmenaArt Foundation.
